Caroline Desnoëttes is a militant and optimistic artist who has been exploring the co-evolution of living beings for the past ten years using a radical, sober and contemporary technique. Very close to her public, she openly shares the making and the meaning of her works through accessible yet demanding mediations.
Hybrid forms of life, between plants, people and other animals, are at the heart of her work, as a tribute and manifesto to draw the eye to endangered spaces and species. Her performances, installations, exhibitions embody the symbiotic relationship of living beings, intertwined in one ecosystem.
Caroline Desnoëttes develops a wide range of innovative mediums and biomimetic techniques. She pushes the limits of paper. She crumples, weaves and interprets blankets of survival, fragile membranes in a balance, protective of life. She braids seaweed. Her drawings of hybrids are an unusual tête-à-tête with our imaginary cousins. Her installations are monumental games of transparencies and reflections. Visitors, in resonance with the works, give it a new life.
Finally, Caroline Desnoëttes' work is a permanent research, bringing together art and science: she works with researchers from CNRS and Sorbonne, bio-acousticians and actors in the circular marine economy to tie her works with an ecological, collective and interdisciplinary approach.
Ballpoint pens, fountain pens, markers, brushes, inks, survival blankets, Asian papers in mulberry fiber, but also algae, graphites, earths, pastels... A biodiversity of meshes, lines, traces, colors, transparencies... outline the artistic career of Caroline Desnoëttes.
